Red Charity Gala 2019

How do we top this? I asked myself that question last year right after the Red Charity Gala’s tenth anniversary featuring fashion genius Rajo Laurel. With a record number of attendees, I thought that it would be so difficult to mount a more impressive, charity fashion show.

RCG Co-chair Kaye Tinga and I came up with the idea of bringing back all the past ten designers and for each of them to showcase a capsule collection. So, for our eleventh edition, we presented the past RCG designers in chronological order.

With our RCG dream team, Robby Carmona as director, Noel Manapat as main stylist, Henri Calayag as lead hair and make-up, and Maggie Gineta as line producer, we knew we could make the concept a reality. After we got a go signal from our main sponsor, Bench king Ben Chan, we got all the designers on board.

Having their own exceptionally unique design DNA, the first ten stepped up and brought Philippine fashion into a world-class dimension. Dennis Lustico, Furne One, Michael Cinco, Cary Santiago, Ezra Santos, Jojie Lloren, Lesley Mobo, Chito Vijandre, Joey Samson and Rajo Laurel delivered the most striking masterpiece collection the local fashion scene has ever seen.

Back in our favorite venue at the Shangri-La the Fort, RCG is for the benefit of the Philippine Red Cross and the Assumption High School 81 Foundation. We also added new beneficiaries – Save the Philippine Seas, Save Palawan Seas, Gifts & Graces, Sisters of Mary Girlstown, Assumption Mission Schools, Inquirer Foundation and many more.

Majority of the funds are raised during the exciting live auction that my co-auctioneer Tim Yap ably works on stage with me. We usually hold the auction during dinner to have ample time to get the highest bids for all the auction pieces.

Before the dinner and auction, we introduced our newest major partner, IAM Worldwide, a direct sales company promoting health, prosperity and balance. Togerther with its founders, Allen Marvin Eder, Aika Lorraine Uy and Joanna Mañego, gorgeous Heart Evangelista was presented on stage as their company’s newest brand ambassador.

Shortly after, we eagerly presented our First Ten Red Charity ladies who will be coming out as the covergirls of the our magazine partner Lifestyle Asia this November. The ten young and promising ladies are Alexa Andanar, Erica Dee, Arabella Dabao, Angia Laurel, Jeline Vitangcol, Sofia Romualdez, Mica Lagman, Alayne Umali, Kylie Tinga and Amanda Zamora. Each of them were given gifts from USANA and Ideal Vision.

Our live auction started with the Globe Platinum package with a year’s subscription to the New The Platinum Plan with the iPhone 11 Pro Max 64 GB. The first winner was Carlo Lopez, who was also given a year’s subscription for two at Kerry Sports Gym at the Shang Fort.

Next up was a beautifully brilliant, platinum necklace with diamonds from Chow Tai Fook Jewelry, which got a winning bid from our RCG long time patron, Dette Tan.

The 2019 Royal Gem x Love Marie Jewelry Collection was the next item, with a collection of five pieces all designed by Heart Evangelista. The auction package came with accomodations at Bellevue Manila and The Bellevue Resort.

One of the most heated auction items was the Ultherapy for Two. Ultherapy is the only U.S. FDA-cleared, non-invasive lift. We matched this auction piece with Diagold’s dangling, teardrop diamond earrings. This package was won by Nini Licaros and Evelyn Fraser, who are lovely patients of Dr. Issa Cellona of Skincell Clinic. Diagold’s owner Jennifer Ty was joined by Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach, who is their new brand ambassador.

Furniture brand Bernhardt donated a Somerset dining table and four leather dining chairs. Gorgeously wearing a Cherry Veric gown, winner Ofelia Wadle and friends went on stage to receive the package. They also got eight Air Asia roundtrip tickets to Osaka, Japan.

Also going to Japan is Fila head Cris Albert. She won the exciting Hokkaido Tracks’ accommodations for a 5-7 day stay during the peak skiing season.

The generous bidder for the Emirates roundtrip, business class tickets for two to Europe was handsome couple Cristalle and Justin Pitt. They also received a bottle of Louis XIII, the finest cognac in the world.

Our most generous bidders at the RCG were the family members of Dr. Aivee Teo, especially Las Pinas Mayor Imelda Aguilar. It was indeed a family affair as her pretty granddaughter, Alexa Andanar was presented earlier as one of the #MyFirstRedCharityGala ladies.

This year, the Jewelmer strand of masterfully matched, 11-13 mm, South Sea pearls was the longest ever. After an exciting and friendly bid war, generous Mommy Mel won the stunning, 30-inch, opera strand with semi-baroque champagne pearls. She also won the Tessera diamond earrings.

Next to their table were the Aivee Leaguers who had their own mini social networking going with their hottest stars like Sarah Lahbati, Mond Gutierrez, Jake Cuenca, Kylie Verzosa and more.

We closed this year’s auction with the highest ever, winning auction bid for a destination package. A2A Safaris provided a three-night, fully inclusive stay for two persons at the Royal Chundu lodge on the Zambezi river in Zambia, and two-night accommodations at Athol Place in Johannesburg, Ellerman House in Cape Town, South Africa’s most exclusive address, and Delaire Graff, the jewel of the Cape Winelands in Stellenbosch, South Africa. Ever so gorgeous and generous Small Laude will soon be going to Zambia and South Africa, and will do her You Tube videos for her growing number of followers.

Tina Aponte, the lovely owner of Royal Chundu, flew in from Zambia just to award the winner. My hubby Dennis and I hosted an intimate dinner to welcome Tina and her partner, Reid Bader, A2A Safaris owners Binky and Tracie Dizon and other close friends.

The Shang Fort saw the brightest stars from both TV networks gathered for a cause. RCG saw beauty queens, actors, renowned fashion designers and even executives sashaying, dressed to the nines. Miss World queens Michelle Dee and Megan Young were joined by other queens like Miss International Kylie Verzosa and Miss Universe Philippines Ara Arida.

Some of the other stars spotted at the event included Heart Evangelista, Lovi Poe, Andrea Torres, Derek Ramsay, Ormoc City Mayor Richard Gomez, and Cong. Lucy Torres.

The newest and sexiest star right now is Jane de Leon, who sat with the other Belo Babies next to Dr. Vicki Belo and Dr. Hayden Kho. She was the sexiest that night but the cutest by far was my fave Scarlet Snow Belo. She is so sharp, she even recognised my voice while I was entering the stage!

Our main presenter Ben Chan requested all of his guests of the Bench table to come in Filipiniana. The ladies came in ternos and the men in Barong Tagalog.

Bench heated the runway with the Bench/ Active Wear models led by Marco Gumabao, the hottest hunk on stage. I think he got the loudest applause when he attempted to remove his Bench denim jacket revealing his ripped abs.

So, I ask myself once again, how do we top this? Let me continue this feature next week!
