Sleeping in and stepping out!

Deep, uninterrupted sleep is the most precious luxury that money can’t buy. Only a privileged few are able to have the necessary six to eight hours of sleep a day. Ideally commencing at 9 PM, the best sleep occurs before midnight when the body goes to its full regenerative state.

With Manila’s many social affairs and celebrations, getting to bed before midnight rarely happens. For me, I just need to rely on quality sleeping time, and that means sleeping on a mattress that is designed to get one into full rest and relaxation mode.

I am so glad that Uratex is committed to educate consumers like me on the importance of sleep. Uratex Premium Mattresses ( recently partnered with Rustan’s for the launch of its new top-of-the-line mattresses, pillows and toppers through a lifestyle display called “Sleep Haven” at the East Wing of Shangri-la Plaza in Mandaluyong City.

Featured are Perfect Serenity mattresses that have Aura Fresh Technology, which eliminates unwanted body odors, and the Orthocare collection, which is made of orthopedic foam materials with Biorhythmic Technology to help reduce stress, improve balance, and provide back support.

Also displayed are the Sensory Memory collection, which adapts to body contours and evenly distributes weight to ease pressure points, and the Premium Touch collection, hotel-like mattresses made of smart-reflex-pocket coil springs for undisturbed sleep. And those are just the mattresses!

The pillow display includes Uratex Premium pillows, which provide support for the head, neck and spine. The collection includes wedge type, lumbar, nap pillows and footrest pillows that will aid in achieving superior sleep experience.

For five decades, Uratex Premium Mattress has been the leading sleep specialist in the country. It is the only mattress brand that is endorsed by the Philippine Orthopaedic Association and is certified by Sanitized, the leading worldwide producer of antimicrobial materials.

Uratex is also an authentic Filipino brand, co-founded by Natividad “Naty” Cheng, who was named the “Entrepreneur of the Year Philippines” in 2017 in the annual search conducted by SGV Foundation. Mrs. Cheng then represented the country in Ernst & Young Global’s gathering of entrepreneurs in Monte Carlo in Monaco. It was at this trip that she brought global recognition to our country, proudly discussing world-class Filipino products and services.

Uratex Premium is one of the proud sponsors of the upcoming Red Charity Gala. Red Charity Gala co-chair Kaye Tinga and I were happy to announce the sponsorship at the “Sleep Haven” launch. As part of their support, Uratex will be donating a king-size Uratex Premium mattress to be auctioned off along with Bernhardt’s Jet Set Bedroom Collection. This auction package includes a one-piece Jet Set Upholstered King-Size Bed and two Jet Set Bachelor’s Chest Classic side tables.

Jet Set combines a fresh sense of style with a nod to the luxe lifestyle. Classic design with a 1940’s contemporary French influence is updated with a modern flair.  The collection is dramatic, yet exhibits glamorous taste and modern sensibility that can be carried out with relative ease. The collection exhibits classic craftsmanship, with pieces possessing a classic contemporary flair that is unmistakable. The designs also brings a definitive modern energy, as well as a glamorous look, to any living space. Check out the Uratex / Jet Set auction item at the Bernhardt Furniture Design Center at 59 Connecticut St., North East Greenhills in San Juan City. The well-appointed showroom is packed with beautiful furniture and accessories.

Kaye and I are so excited to auction off this bedroom package along with so many more exciting items. We are also giving away Uratex Premium pillows to all table donors and supporters.

For those having difficulty sleeping, another solution may be to have a Gong Bath. This unique sensory experience involves having a Gong Master bathe the participants in the powerful sound vibrations of a gong, while lying comfortably on the floor with eyes closed. The sound permeates the body on a cellular level, and the more gong sessions, the better the results.

Gong Master Rosan Cruz does her “Scent and Sound Healing” gong baths at Yoga Plus Express in Legaspi Village. Rosan tells me how the sound waves enable deep healing and clear blockages from the body and mind. The sound can positively provide results for sleep disorders, anxiety, depression, stress management and pain management. It also helps repair damage to the nervous system caused by stimulants and stress. For more information about Gong Bath and Kundalini Yoga, please contact Rosan Cruz at 0918-888-9198 or

This week, I’m so excited to be at Milan Fashion Week, together with Fila CEO Cris Albert and Philippine Tatler editor Anton San Diego. Fila is one of the most aggressive sportswear brands, always merging world-class quality and fashion.

For the launch of their 2018 Holiday Collection, Fila teamed up with Red Turnip Theater to produce “A Doll’s House, Part 2,” running until October 17 at the Maybank Performing Arts Theater. The Gala Night saw Red Turnip owners Ana Abad Santos, Rem Zamora, Topper Fabregas and Jenny Jamora joined by celebrities like Tim Yap, Alex Medina, Cacai Bautista, Carla Humphries, Sid Lucero, rapper Al James and many more. In true Red Turnip Fashion, the packed house was also treated to an overflowing cocktail food and open bar, care of Ralph’s Wine and Spirits.

Fila showed off their Holiday Collection, 31 sneakers including the Disruptor II, Spaghetti Low, Mind Blower, Luminance, Ray, Boveasorus and the Mind Breaker. I was amazed at the range, and only sad that my closet has no space for 31 new shoes.
